For a while now I've been struggling to separate tapers and fades (or tapering and fading? more on that in a bit). In an effort to achieve smooth blending, I kept creating gentle, taper-style graduation, and knowing I needed a fade to be "sharper" or "more dramatic" didn't really help...

Absolutely kicking myself. I did my best cut to date this afternoon and completely forgot to get any photos at all.

It's another real cut!

I had my first real haircuts on strangers this week! For this post, I'll talk about them together, since I find myself having similar reflections on both cuts, but I'll also lay out a format I can use to discuss future haircuts individually.

Lately I've been trying speed drills when working on my long-haired mannequin heads. I've got my one-length cuts down to a tight 15-20 minutes, but my uniform layer cuts still trend longer than I'd like, often hovering around one hour.

One thing I appreciate about the UK is that it has fantastic government websites. (I assume this is largely because it isn't fifty countries in a trenchcoat. But I digress.) This makes pulling up the full text of UK health & safety regulations much easier than I would expect, so...

At many points in my life, I've thought about becoming a blogger. It feels strange to begin blogging now, long after the heyday of the personal blog and several years after quitting a writing-focused career. But! I have an actual subject to discuss now, so why not begin?
